Taylor Swift, American singer and songwriter, has recently been named Spotify’s Most Streamed Artist for 2023. Although this is a huge achievement, it is not the only thing Swift has accomplished this year.
To get this title has not come easy for Swift, but she got there anyways. Starting her career at the young age of ten, simply just singing country songs at various local events. From her first ever tour, “The Fearless Tour,” she has come a long way. Now, Swift is currently on her international tour, “The Era’s Tour.”
“The Era’s Tour” has reached over 72,000 spectators per concert. Not only has she sold out football stadiums, but fans who cannot get tickets tend to stand outside the stadium screaming the lyrics to their favorite songs.
As for Woodland, there are many “Swifties” roaming around the hallways. Many of the Swifties at Woodland have listened to the artist for over 15,000 minutes on Spotify or Apple Music.
Olivia Jevarjian, Freshman at Woodland, said that,
“Taylor Swift’s music is extremely inspiring and it all has some sort of storyline that I and other fans can relate to,”
Jevarjian unfortunately could not attend the Eras tour, but her listening minutes for Swift makes up for the concert missed. Freshman Zoe Moriarty agrees with Jevarjian,
“Taylor Swift has a song for every situation. She puts my thoughts and feelings into a song and helps me overcome my hardships,”
For many, Swift’s music is an escape. Her words can be very impactful and relatable for many people. Swift’s lyrics are healing for Moriarty and Jevarjian and they plan to continue listening to her throughout the remainder of the year, and onto 2024.
Swift is more than just a top artist on Spotify for freshman Sophia DeGennaro. Being able to attend her record-breaking concert, DeGennaro describes the Era’s Tour as the best night of her life.
“It was emotional, fun, sad, and beautiful all at once,” DeGennaro said. “I have 11,091 minutes on Spotify just listening to Taylor Swift. She’s my favorite artist of all time.”
With that being said, Swift earned the title of the world’s top Spotify artist of 2023, as well as many Woodland students’ idol.
