Everywhere you go on social media, you hear songs that you have never heard before. When you look at the song name, you realize it’s from a newly released movie. The more you scroll, the more videos popup with different songs from different movies. This is the rise of popular movie soundtracks.

Most movies have come out in the past year. The most popular soundtracks are: Barbie: The Album, Trolls, and Wonka. They are all very different, but have very good influences on the public. Many trends, dances and videos have been created in the past year on TikTok. Many of the songs gained so much popularity because of the catchy beat and lyrics. 

The Barbie album has many famous musicians that have written songs for the movie. Most of these musicians are Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Tame Impala. This movie also got nominated for a Golden globe for best original soundtrack. One of the most popular songs was an original song called I’m Just Ken which was sung by actor Ryan Gosling, who played Ken. There have been many videos remixing this song and many dances created for the songs on the soundtrack. 

 “The Barbie soundtrack is one of my favorites,”says sophomore Colby Sizer. “Some people don’t really like it but I love it.”

The next soundtrack that is going viral is the Trolls soundtrack. This movie has some original songs but some songs are adaptations of others. For example, one original song is “Better Place.” This is the first song that the band has put out in twenty years. Justin Timberlake, who plays Branch, is part of the band. More celebrities that are a part of this movie are: Anna Kendrick, Daveed Diggs, Amy Schumer, Kenen Thompson, Camila Cabello, and Kid Cudi. This song is going viral because of the fun upbeat style. 

“The thing I like the most about this soundtrack is Justin Timberlake and NSYNC,” says sophomore Julia Galasso.

 As well as the Barbie soundtrack, many dances have been created from these songs that everybody is loving. 

Finally, the last soundtrack is the newest to go viral. This is the Wonka soundtrack. Timothee Chalamet who plays beloved character Willy Wonka, has surprised the world with his musical talent. His songs have taken the internet by storm. 

“I really enjoyed the soundtrack,” says senior Hannah Mudry.“The songs were good and I have seen the movie twice.” 

One of the trends that have emerged from this soundtrack is dancing to his song: “You’ve Never Had Chocolate Like This” just like he dances in the movie. 

All in all, the students and internet are loving these movies as well as these soundtracks
