Speak Now: The TV Preview

Taylor Swift has the world in a choke hold, especially now with her current Eras Tour. The fight to get tickets for this tour was excruciatingly stressful for people all over the world.

After Scooter Braun, owner of Swift’s music, began to sell her music without permission, Swift decided to re-record her albums so she would own all rights to them. So far, Swift has released Red (Taylor’ s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’ s Version). Recently, at her Friday night Nashville Concert, on May 5, Swift announced that Speak Now (Taylor’ s Version) will be released on July 7, 2023, with six additional vault tracks added to her existing album.

Speak Now is Taylor Swift’s third album that was released on October 25, 2010. Swift uses her country-pop work with her concern for romance and heartbreaks to form an emotional rollercoaster of an album. The album has 14 songs, each regarding a different topic. Speak Now (Deluxe Edition) has six more songs than the original Speak Now.

Speak Now had three songs in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. These three songs are “Mine”, “Back to December” and “If This Was a Movie”. The first track of the album, titled “Mine” is a song rumored to be about a boy that Swift was too nervous to pursue a relationship with. Fans have the theory that this song is related to one of her biggest hits from the album Fearless, “You Belong With Me.”

The third track on the album, titled “Back to December” is made for her past boyfriend Taylor Lautner. Swift is usually the artist to make the most targeted break-up songs, herself being the one broken up with; however, with this song, she is the one doing the heartbreaking, as a way to apologize to Lautner. Lastly, track 16 on the album titled “If This Was a Movie” is created similarly to “Back to December” giving the sense that she was hoping for a happier ending in her relationship. She compares reality to fantasy hoping they would live happily ever after, forgiving her past boyfriend in that situation for the reason they split in the first place. This song is rumored to be about Joe Jonas because her missing him in this song.

Speak Now (Taylor’ s Version), has many fans ecstatic for her style of the album and the new songs being released. Big fan at Woodland, Natalie Muharem, is one of those fans who simply cannot wait for July 7th.

“When I hear ‘Back to December (Taylor’s Version)’ for the first time, I don’t think the tears will ever stop.”
