Wreck-It Ralph Review

For Disney producers the idea of toys malfunctioning in order to portray a secret world was not a new idea. However, in Wreck-It Ralph the ideas are approached differently than in the similar Disney movie, Toy Story.

The premise of the movie takes place inside of a video arcade game. The movie depicts how during the arcade’s after hours all of the game characters come to life.

While the main focus of the movie is on Wreck-It Ralph himself, the movie makers also chose to incorporate a number of other video game characters.

Wreck-it Ralph comes from the arcade game Fix-It Felix, Jr. In this game Felix, jr. is always the hero and Ralph is always the bad guy. As the 30th anniversary of the game arrives Ralph begins to feel down on himself. When this happens Ralph decides to leave his arcade game and go to try an earn a medal in another game.

Ralph hears that if he beats the game Hero’s Duty he will earn a medal and he believes this will make him the hero rather than the bad guy. When Ralph enters this game however he realizes that it is much harder than he originally thought. One of the enemies in the game, the Cy-Bug, clings onto Ralph and causes him to escape from the game and enter another game.

The game Ralph then enters is called Sugar Rush and he meets a young girl named Vanellope Von Schweetz. Vanellope is known as the glitch in her game and is not liked by the other characters in Sugar Rush. At this point on the movie it takes a more heart-wrenching turn. With Ralph gone from the game Fix-It Felix, Jr. the game in jeopardy of being turned off.

While the movie brings you inside the life of a video game character it also uses wit and evokes emotions in order to create a movie that is enjoyable for anyone who enjoys digital animation.
