One of Woodland’s most elite actors will be performing on another stage this Christmas season. Senior Eric Gomez has earned a key role in the Seven Angels Theater production of the infamous Miracle on 34th Street.
Gomez, who started acting just three years ago, has landed main roles in the plays performed at Woodland such as Once on this Island, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Stage Door. But this year, Gomez was ready to take on a more challenging and professional role.
“I just really wanted to be a part of this production,” said Gomez.
Miracle on 34th Street is a charming and endearing story about Christmas Spirit.
Questioning whether the hired store Santa is real or not, Miracle on the 34th Street brings delight to all ages of an audience. And Santa tends to be quite convincing.
“The story explains how this Santa really changed the lives of others,” stated Gomez.
Gomez has taken on the role of Alfred, a store clerk who befriends Santa. Like Santa, Alfred also plays a pretend Santa in department stores.
Filled with humor and Christmas spirit, the musical is a must see. Songs performed include “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”, “Santa Claus is coming to Town,” and the beloved “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
“It really puts you in the Christmas spirit,” stated Gomez.” “It’s an amazing cast filled with both professionals and local actors.”
With such dedication to the performance, it is bound to be flawless.
“To really take on the role of Alfred, my director told me to keep my hair long,” said Gomez. “I need a haircut but I don’t think I’ll be getting one until next year.”
Unfortunately for Gomez’ hair but fortunately for the audience, the musical will be performed throughout the rest of December. Every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Miracle on 34th Street will be performed at the Seven Angels Theater in Waterbury, Connecticut.
