Released from last block classes’ students flocked from each grade to the gymnasium.

There were tables, signs hanging, apple cider and donuts. Students rushed to tables pushing by just to sign up for their favorite club. Teachers were even signing up for clubs. Student council came through with another clever idea.  In the middle of the gymnasium were the “snackers” –people who just eat and want to hang around.

This event was held October 9, 2009 in the gymnasium at the end of the day. This was the first time Woodland has seen this event.

All the clubs that Woodland has were in the gymnasium set up with tables filled with flyers that contain information about a club, a signup sheet and representatives of the club.  Props were used like fishing poles for adventure club just to get more attention and to advertise what they are all about.

Jeremy Clark, Woodland freshman, decided his favorite club was ultimate Frisbee because it is “different and enthusiastic.” As a freshman, Clark noted that the “clubbin'” event was helpful for freshmen to see all the opportunities Woodland has to offer.

Jessica Pellegrino, representative for new club, Dumbledore’s Army, believes her club is the one to join.  “[Dumbledore’s Army] is good because you are with people who share a common interest and you feel comfortable,” said Pellegrino.   Dumbledore’s Army raises money to help build libraries in New Orleans and increase literacy to the new generation. They meet Thursdays in room 212.
