Ending a Season with an Injury

The 2023 football season has just come to an end and team captain and senior, Kole Molcyk, is reflecting on the highs and lows of this year. Coming into his senior football season, Molcyk wanted to enjoy this season and make sure to be a good captain to his teammates. In regards to how he feels about the season, Molcyk feels confident in what he and his teammates accomplished.

“I think there is a lot of room for improvement going forward. I enjoyed the season, and I believe we set a good foundation for the future Woodland Hawk Football team.”

Unfortunately, Molcyk’s season ended at the Ansonia game. During the first quarter, Molyck suffered a broken radius, which is a bone in the wrist and arm, due to an awkward landing while playing linebacker. Due to his high levels of adrenaline, he didn’t even realize it was broken, and continued to play into the fourth quarter.

As much as it hurt to know his season was over, Molcyk knew that this wasn’t the end of his responsibilities. He took every opportunity he could to motivate his team and contribute positively as a captain. In a show of team and school spirit, his teammates reached out to him after that night, and let him know they were there for him.

Molcyk overall has a very positive view of his football season, even with the ending being dampened by the injury. The Hawks ended the season with a record of 5-5 and look forward to seeing future hawks perform on the base that Molcyk has built for them.
