Woodland Baseball Takes on Dunkin Park

Woodland Baseball is off to a great start on the year winning 14 in a row with nothing put into the loss column. With a game today against Waterbury Career Academy they are one day closer to a date that the whole team has had circled on their calendar since the beginning of the season.

On Thursday the Hawks are going against Saint Joseph High School, but the game is not at either of the teams home field. They are going to be playing at Dunkin Park in Hartford. The game is set to start at 3:30pm with The Hawks deemed the home team. This game is going to be a fun game to see from the stands. Being one of the first times that the Hawks have played at a professional stadium.

“I expect to see a very high energy game from both sides. I think that both sides of the ball are going to have fun and from a fan’s perspective the game will be fun the see,” said senior Luke Galasso

Their opponent [Saint Joseph] at this time last year had a winning record of 6-3 compared to this year having a losing record of 4-5. This might push the Cadets to prove themselves. Woodland is going into the game with the same mindset, to prove that they are contenders in the class “M” state title.

“I feel like we are going to play a good game with high energy like we have from the start of the season,”  said junior Jason Beaudry. “I think that Saint Joseph is just another game on the list and should be treated as such.”

Starting pitcher for Woodland will be Michael Belcher who has had a great start this year. Highlights from his performance are seen at the Wolcott vs. Woodland game where he struck out 12 and only gave up one hit.

This game will be one to remember for the people on and off the field. So show up and support the Hawk’s for their 16th game of the season.
