New Athletic Trainer at Woodland

Woodland Regional High School has hired someone new to tape ankles and check for concussions. Due to former trainer Catilyn Palm’s move to South Carolina, the new athletic trainer Lindsay Socquet has made her move to Woodland.

An athletic trainer has to make sure that all student athletes are healthy and physically eligible to practice.

Football player Nicholas Hummel, who tore his ACL back in October last year, is making great use of Socquet’s ability to help him recover faster.

“She has me do stretches and her knowledge on my injury helps me determine what the time table looks like for recovery,” said Hummel. “I hope to come back by the end of the football season.”

Socquet was the former trainer at Newington High School for two years and is excited for the opportunity to work at a new school.

“I enjoy working with the new kids and the new coaching staff. So it has been fun so far,” said Socquet

Socquet just started working at Advanced Physical Therapy which is where all former Woodland trainers have worked.

“It has been a little over a month and I started when I came on with Woodland as well,” said Socquet

It is a time consuming commitment since Socquet works during the day at Advanced Physical Therapy and then heads to Woodland.

Although her time here has been short, she is enjoying supporting the fall sports. Things are off to a great start and Woodland student athletes are looking forward to working with Socquet for the remainder of the season.
