After 19 seasons, star Ellen Pompeo has decided to say her goodbyes to her character Meredith Grey. In Grey’s Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo has been playing the role of Meridith Grey since she was 27 years old. She is now 53, and is saying goodbye to that era of her life.

Merdith Grey originally joined the show with six other main co-stars. They were a pack of new interns, who stuck together. Throughout the years of Grey’s Anatomy, all the original main characters had left, but Meredith was the last one standing until January 2023.

Merdith Grey is a surgeon who also faces many lovers and challenges throughout her path. She was known as one of the best general surgeons in the show. Her character faces many traumatizing events such as a hospital shooting, a drowning, and loved ones’ deaths. Throughout everything, she continued to show strength .

Pompeo decided it was time to say her final goodbye in her last episode called “I’ll follow the sun.”

On an instagram post Pompeo said,

“I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you all have shown me, Meredith Grey and the show for 19 seasons! Through it all none of it would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You all are riders and you all have made the ride so fun and iconic.”

Pompeo went out leaving fans sad to see her go, but happy for her success. She does say she will be back to visit and wishes Greys Anatomy the best. The show will be strange without her but the show must go on.
