Drama Club Returns in Hopes of Another Year of Memorable Productions

The Woodland Regional High School Drama Club returns for another year of memorable productions and opportunities.

The Club already had their first meeting on September 21st in the auditorium after school, but there is still a chance to become a member and audition for this years production and their rendition of The Crucible. The returning members of the the drama department, along with supervisor and director, Susan Cinoman, are very excited for this coming year.

The program continues to grow each year and Cinoman expects this year to be no exception. Every year she sees more and more students join the drama department. “We’ve gone from maybe ten core members of drama club to about sixty,” said Cinoman.

The program has not only grown in participation but also in community support.

“We do have a lot of parents who help us that are called the drama mama and papas” explains Cinoman.

This coming fall, the drama club has decided to put on their own production of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Cinoman expects many different reactions from the audience for their take on the play. They are performing the play with twists that haven’t been done before. Cinoman believes that the abstract way that they are performing it is going to draw a lot of attention.

“I think it will be creepy and scary enough for kids but also thought provoking enough for people that want to really think about what the meaning of the play is.”

The stage lights shine not only on the people on the stage, but on everyone behind it and around it.

There are also many different aspects of the club itself that not many people are aware of. Cinoman is always looking for stage crew to help with lighting, sound, props, decoration, and extra hands to help during the play. She continues to hope that more people will get involved in the drama club even if they do not want to be on stage as actors.

With the help of Matthew Laporta, Laura Vitzoski, Gillian Farina, and Sydney Sills, Susan Cinoman hopes that this year will be another successful year full of bonding, laughs, and memories that the club and all of its members will remember forever.
