Ice Cream Place

Rich’s Farms Ice Cream, located in Oxford, is a dairy farm offering fresh ice cream and frequently visit by many in the area. It was voted best ice cream in Connecticut by Connecticut Magazine. The farm uses fresh milk from cows on the premise daily to create various original flavors of ice cream, yogurt, soft-serves, cakes, shakes, and italian ices. The farm also makes its own waffle cones and promises to never add artificial growth hormones to any of their products. The farm offers anything from original flavors such as Mint Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, Peaches and Cream, and Cake Batter, to special flavors such as Full Moon Chocolate, Over the Rainbow, Twix, and Pina Colada. An item worth trying is Rich’s Farms’ Soda Floats with either hard or soft ice cream.

Seafood Shack

Stowe’s Seafood in West Haven is a seafood place worth visiting. The quaint seafood shack sits directly across from the sands of Peck Beach, and offers fresh fried seafood and rolls.The pirate themed restaurant offers up dishes such as fried calamari, stuffed clams, and coconut shrimp. For starters, try a Lobster Bisque or Seafood Chili. For a lighter snack, order one of their famous seafood rolls with fillings such as scallops, shrimp, clams, lobster, or squid. If you’re planning to visit with a group, a ‘Treasure Chest’ is worth looking into. For $30, your group can feast on shrimp, scallops, clams, crab cake, sole, haddock, fries, coleslaw, and toast.

G’s Burgers in Watertown is one of the best burger shacks in the area for grabbing some fries, or even a sundae in the carvel next door. George Tsioflikis created the restaurant in 2008, after traveling the entire country and visiting various establishments to incorporate elements of each into G’s. G’s offers burgers, Philly cheese steaks, hot dogs, fries, chicken, salad, and shakes. A staple of the restaurant is G’s Burger, a hamburger with melted cheddar.

Lao Sze Chuan in Milford is different from your average take out stop. Most popular chinese food places offer americanized chinese cuisine, but Lao Sze Chuan offers authentic Sichuan cooking. Sushi Palace is a quaint sushi shack tucked into Dixwell Avenue. The restaurant offers various sushi rolls, sashimi, salads, soups, and desserts. For $18.95 you can enjoy as much as you can eat at the buffet, and $9.95 for kids. Try sashimi (just fish), such as white tuna, albacore, or salmon. For something a little more complex go for a maki (roll) such as the California, mango avocado, or alaska.The palace’s special rolls are definitely worth a try. The tiger roll incorporates, salmon, tuna, white tuna, avocado, and special sauce all wrapped up into one by green soybean paper. For dessert, try a twist on ice cream with flavors like green tea and red bean.
