One in four college women will be assaulted in their undergraduate years, knowing this Cina said, “this is a very scary statistic because I’m going to college in a few months. I figured this would be a valuable senior project for my female peers and community members because we should all have the tools to protect ourselves in needed.”

On Friday May 1st, from four to seven thirty in the Woodland gym the Escape Alive self defense class will be held. Last year a self defense class was also held here a Woodland, and it was a huge success, therefore Woodland WorldWide decided to host another class this year. This year, Senior, Nicole Cina will be hosting this program as her senior project.

This project is about bringing awareness to sexual assault. This Escape Alive self defense class will also have a guest speaker who is coming in May to talk about this issue. The class is free and any female over twelve is welcomed and encouraged to go. It is also a mother daughter class, but girls who are in high school can go on their own, with a signed parental permission form. Girls that are in middle school have to attend with a female adult.
