Following Footsteps

Dean Accetura has been playing basketball since he was four years old and he is ready for his senior year.

Starting very young he was determined to follow in his father’s footsteps who played basketball at Wolcott High school and continued to play at Linden State for his college career. Now, his dad is a well-known basketball coach for the community of Region 16.

Accetura’s love for basketball grew the more and more he played.

“I have always loved being competitive and the speed of the game.”

Some of his greatest moments while playing basketball were when his travel team won the league championships during his elementary and middle school years.

“My eighth grade year was the most memorable because the year before we lost in championship and to win in my final year of travel basketball meant a lot to me and my teammates,” said Accetura.

Coming off of a 5-15 season, Accetura has many goals for what he wants to accomplish for himself and his team. Going into his senior year, he wants to guide the basketball team to the Naugatuck Valley League and State Tournaments.

He also has goals for himself this year.

“I want to make the state tournament this year and become an all-league player.”

After his high school career ends Accetura wants to continue playing basketball in college.
