New Guidance Counselors Arrive at Woodland

This school year, there are some new additions to Woodland and they aren’t just the freshmen and new flooring. Over the summer, Woodland hired two new guidance counselors, Alyssa Kabusk and Joanna Wojteczko.

Kabusk, a former Woodland graduate, previously worked as a guidance counselor in Waterbury, but always knew she wanted to come back to Woodland.

“I love, love, love my job,” said Kabusk. “I love being a school counselor and I love helping students; it is literally my passion.”

Wojteczko also has connections to Woodland, as she is the aunt of a 2008 Woodland graduate. Although Wojteczko has gone through a lot of transitions in her life and in the work world, being a guidance counselor has always been her dream job.

Previously, Wojteczko worked at a Montessori school following college, in addition she was an admissions officer at Post University, then as a clinician/therapist at an outpatient clinic in Waterbury, and at Waterbury Public Schools as a pre-k through 8th grade school counselor. Finally, she’s here at Woodland as a guidance counselor. Wojteczko has finally reached her dream job and says her favorite thing about this job is “the unpredictability, somewhat structured, but also wearing many different hats, and I love that.”

So, if you are in need of college application help, want to know how to achieve your dream job, or simply just want to chat, stop by the guidance office and get to know Woodland’s new guidance counselors.
