Captain Feature – Mason Mastropietro

Mason Mastropietro, football phenom, has recently been named captain of Woodland’s football team. Mastropietro has a winning attitude that he translates from the classroom to the football field.

“Winning can be acing a test or just doing a favor for someone. When a team is full of winning habits, that team will be successful on the field,” Mastropietro said.

Being a captain is more than just leading the starting lineup. Mastropietro believes that everyone on the team is important and no one should feel otherwise. Everyone has a way that they can help the team.

Mastropietro has many responsibilities as a captain. One would be cleaning everything to make sure it’s neater than when they arrived.

“Another responsibility I have is to make sure the team is doing well and being respectful in class,” Mastropietro said. “I also have to make sure everyone is putting full effort on the field and if they are not, it is on the captains to take charge and respond to the problem.”

Overall, Mastropietro wishes the best for his team and that they take care of themselves, the team, and their surroundings in order to stay as focused both mentally and physically as possible.

“I want my team to be full of leaders and people who will correct the ones that are in the wrong. Being a leader takes a huge amount of responsibility, but I know my team has it in them.”
