New Years

As Christmas and Hanukkah ends a new celebration is about to begin. New Year’s Day is the time to stay up and remember all the good things and memories you have created this year in 2023 and look forward to 2024 with new goals and work ethics to focus on and admire from afar.

As this year comes to a close, what is New Year’s Day? Most will have New Year’s Day celebrations with friends and family; some will stay up until midnight or fall asleep before the ball drops, as tradition has it the ball always drops in New York City in Times Square where thousands stand for hours waiting to see magic as most would describe it and have a classic New Year’s Day kiss.

Over time the question would arise throughout history what would be the reason to celebrate? By the name New Year’s Day you can tell that it is to celebrate the new year to arrive after a long year.

The tradition started in the 1900s to anticipate the new arrival of the year, but it actually has more of a history by being a religious feast at first which involved ham, corn and bread. Nowadays people eat pizza and carbs while counting down the minute until the ball drops. Time has changed the celebration into a yearly and world wide holiday that is celebrated every year since 1900.
