DECA Feedback Feeding Families

Since 2015, DECA members have come together annually to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for their annual feedback activity.

This year on February 15th, the sandwiches were made and donated to St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury.

About 30-40 members of DECA volunteered their time to help out. Because of the large number of volunteers who showed up, it only took roughly an hour to use up all the bread they had access to.

The peanut butter and jelly was donated by Woodland students and teachers for a prize, while DECA provided the bread. With all these supplies, about 200 sandwiches were made. As soon as the sandwiches were made, the DECA advisor Mike Magas brought the sandwiches right to St. Vincent DePaul.

There are still jars of peanut butter and jelly that were not used. Deca members came back for part two of this event on March 21st, after school.

Along with this event, DECA is hoping to do a dodgeball tournament of upperclassmen vs. underclassmen as a fundraiser for the club. DECA will also be holding their annual helping hands fundraising event in May where members hold their hand on a bus for as long as they can, to raise money for Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.

DECA hopes to incorporate more events this year to bring the school together and strengthen the DECA club.
