Pi day was a very big day for our fellow math lovers, but what would pi day be without actual pie?!
During all three lunch waves on March 10th, three contests were held: pie eating, hula hoop, and freehand circle drawing. There was also a recitation contest, where students competed to determine who could memorize the most digits of pi.
Mrs. Gaetano, math teacher at Woodland, said, “Basically all of these festivities help to remind Woodland how fun, creative, and interesting math can be.”
Today, there’s nothing irrational about stuffing your face with pi. Students from Katherine Hollywood’s math class celebrated by creating a decorative pi chain. Each link represents a number in the sequence. The chain currently hangs on the balcony in the front lobby of Woodland.
