Senior Legacy

The Woodland Boys Soccer Team has always been a strong group of players. There is always visible chemistry between them; passes were practically automatic for them this year. The seniors have been playing together since elementary school and their bond is unmatched. As the team loses a large chunk of these starting players, returners will need to adjust and step up to the challenge of being leaders.

“The juniors certainly have enough talent to be influential in the league next year,” said John Sizer, team captain. “Tanner Barrows and Vincent Pereira will be key for the team to have a strong season with the experience they both have at the varsity level.”

Team captain, Robert Giampetruzzi, notes that the team’s personnel is going to change.

“Some key players are sadly leaving,” said Giampetruzzi, “But it is a chance for some new guys to get involved.”

Both Sizer and Giampetruzzi believe that the boys will have a great season as they already have experience at that varsity level. They know the level of play and will be able to hold their own against any other team.

Now, the legacy of the seniors is not only on the field, but it is also what they do as a team to bond. Over the past years, the tradition has been that after a win, the team will go to the closest McDonalds and eat there, a tradition Tanner Barrows, junior, hopes to continue.

“Vinny Pereira and I are committed to honoring the seniors’ legacy by working hard, fostering teamwork on and off the field, such as keeping the tradition to go to McDonalds after a win, and bringing a renewed energy to the field.”

Both the seniors and the juniors of the Woodland Boys Soccer Team believe that the legacy will stand strong for many years to come. The team has experienced the legacy and can continue it, if they continue working hard.
