Leah Zanic Reaching Freshman Year Goals

Running up and down hills, through forests, and past the finish line is no easy feat. But for Sophomore Leah Zanic, there is no better feeling than running those courses. So much so that in her second year running, she achieved the very sought after titles of All NVL and All State.

“I was really happy; I remember freshman year I wanted to get all NVL.”

Zanic stated her feelings of excitement and pride were long overdue. During her freshman year, she suffered a hamstring injury which caused her to miss out on taking the title home just a year earlier.

She was excited to achieve these titles with her team by her side. As a second year runner with the Hawks, Zanic has been experiencing the new changes that come with running with high school cross country. New changes are made better with the support of her team.

“After meets, we usually go out to little dinners. We went to the diner one day, and just got pancakes and milkshakes, it was just a great day.”

Zanic loves to spend time with her teammates, and she looks forward to her next three years running for Woodlands cross country team.

After a first season that was less than what she thought it would be, and an exceptional second season, Zanic can only go up from here.
