Reaching Goals as a Sophomore

Only a sophomore on the Boys Cross Country Team, Trevor Genthe has already received the title of All-NVL through his hard work and perseverance.

Training all summer, Genthe never let up.

“I did hard runs every Tuesday and Friday and a long run on Sunday. I did 5-7 mile runs during the days in between,” said Genthe.

This formulated running plan helped him to keep on improving before cross country started. Genthe also had some help, his track coach trained him throughout the summer, ensuring he would come back faster then before.

A strong distance runner, Genthe secured the award by running 3.1 miles in around 17 minutes. After the race, the award was expected for Genthe. It was his goal since the beginning of the season to secure the award, and he did just that.

“I want to win the NVL Championship next year,” said Genthe. “It was my goal to get All-NVL this year.”

Even though cross country is at the finish line, Genthe is looking forward to next season, and hopefully becoming the NVL Champion.

New opportunities are at the ready for Genthe with the outdoor track season approaching. Last year, his relay received third place in the 4×8, his goal this year is to get All-NVL as well as win the two mile.

Genthe is definitely seeing results from the intensive training he did during the summer, now it’s time for the second leg of the race.
