On September 28th, at the Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, CT, the band Boygenius played. This band consists of musicians Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker. The opener was Palehound, who played their last show with Boygenius.
Their setlist consists of twenty two songs, and the opening intro being “The Boys Are Back in Town.” Along with songs off their self titled EP from 2018, and songs from their latest album, The Record, they played the song “Voyager,” which will be released in their EP, The Rest.
Boygenius are amazing performers, who have the ability to play mellow songs like “Without You Without Them”, and then fly straight into an upbeat song like “$20.” Along with this, it was the day before Julien Baker’s birthday, so we got to sing her happy birthday. She even got a cake.
Each got their own moments to shine, from Lucy’s song, “Please Stay,” Phoebe’s song, “Graceland too” and Juliens response, “Favor.” This concert was a true showcase of not only talent, but a beautiful friendship between the three.
