Gabe’s Automotive: A Family Tradition Carried on for 83 Years

From a classic small-town gas station to a popular automotive service center, Gabes Automotive has been providing its customers with all of their automotive needs since 1939. The business was originally run by Gabe Fuoco, a man who loved cars and enjoyed racing them too. Fuoco turned the shop into a friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

When it came time for Fuoco to retire, he passed on the business to Brian DeGeorge, his trusted employee that had worked for him since DeGeorge was 14 years old. DeGeorge knew it was going to be rewarding, but at the same time, scary to run the business. Unfortunately, in December of 2021, Fuoco passed away, and DeGeorge had one goal in mind: for the business to be as successful as possible, in memory of Gabe.

“I felt like my entire future depended on the success of the shop,” said DeGeorge.

DeGeorge decided to keep the name “Gabe’s” as a nod to the man who became his second father at an early age. DeGeorge grew up in the house next to the automotive shop for his entire childhood. It made Fuoco and DeGeorge connect in a way more than just boss and employee.

“Gabe was the type of person to go with the flow,” DeGeorge exclaimed. “He let me start with light car repairs and then I moved onto bigger jobs.”

Gabe’s Automotive assists its customers with vehicle repairs, maintenance, and service needs on all makes and models. From routine engine services to factory-scheduled maintenance, not to mention continuing the tradition of being up-to-date, clean, and as efficient as possible when servicing their customers’ vehicles.

“I like to call it a ‘Mom and Pop’ shop with a twist because we are better than that,” DeGeorge laughed. “It’s more like professional and affordable service in a hometown atmosphere.”

Gabes hires technicians and mechanics that are willing to stay on top of the latest technology in the automotive industry through continuous training.

“At Gabe’s, we try to hire our employees not only by skill level, but by their character and willingness to work hard.”
