As president of the Science National honor society, Brian O’Connell shares that he cares deeply about the subjects math and science.

These clubs are for students who have a drive for science and math and are willing to show their natural talent and interests. The club focuses on promoting the sciences and mathematics throughout the school. The club members organize activities and go to meetings.

This year they are running a Saskatchewan fundraiser which is a recycling drive. They also have a field trip they attend at the end of the school year and will attend MIT Splash in November of 2023.

O’Connell welcomes all students that have a passion for these subjects. O’Connell also gives warning that it could be overwhelming if you’re doing multiple clubs and taking challenging courses as he has experience.

“There’s a lot of work,” O’Connell said It is less of being overwhelmed with the positions themselves. More overwhelmed with both my schedule and everything else I have.”

O’Connell shares his goals for this year and future years. One of which being for the clubs to improve his independent skills and become better than he was last year. O’Connell also shares the more people who get involved the better the club becomes.

As O’Connell says his farewells this school year, he shares his thoughts on the future officers and members.

“I feel confident that the people that come after will do a good job,”said O’Connell,“and that’s the main thing –preparing those people for it and inspiring them to do something greater with the organization, even after we’re gone.”
