Paige Letourneau: Senior Soccer Star

Paige Letourneau found her passion at the age of three. Letourneau liked the idea of using your feet instead of your hands, which made soccer stand out from all the other sports. With the support and encouragement of Letourneau’s teammates, soccer became much more enjoyable for her. She started small by playing for the Prospect recreation team and has worked her way up to be Woodlands Girls Soccer Team captain.

Letourneau unfortunately cannot play this season due to a torn ACL, partially torn meniscus, and sprained MCL. She hopes to get better soon so she can continue playing soccer in the future.

“I hope to play soccer for as long as possible, until I physically cannot anymore, I also want to focus on physical therapy,” said Letourneau.

When Letourneau joined the Woodland Girls Soccer team, as a freshman, she was very shy and timid. She followed what everyone else did. Her sophomore year, she began to play her style instead of “playing shy.” This helped Letourneau work harder and it also helped her to become a better player. Her hard work paid off and helped her accomplish making All States, her sophomore and junior year.

“Making All States was not something that I expected. It definitely motivated me to be successful and keep going and I do believe that hard work really pays off,” said Letourneau.

Even though she cannot play this season, she still has many goals for herself and for her team as well. Letourneau’s biggest goal is to be mentally strong for her team.

“Something that motivates me, along with my teammates and coaches, is just me showing up to support them,” said Letourneau.

Letourneau is always caring and looking out for others. She especially wants to look out for her teammates and she wants to create a good bond with them, so they can build trust with her. Soccer is all about the team connection and coming together for Letournneau.

“I like how soccer is not an individual sport. You have to work together as a team to make things happen,” said Letourneau.

Since this is her last season at Woodland she is heartbroken that she has to sit out, and it is something that will be hard for her.
