Softball Shutout Streak

Woodland softball has walked into the 2022 season ready to play. In the first eight games of the season, the team is outscoring the rest of the Naugatuck Valley League 137-0. The girls on the team have stayed focused and worked hard to get to where they are.

“They have a strong dynamic,” said Loren Luddy, Woodland’s softball coach. “They are driven to do well and do better than they did last year.”

Since the team has not been able to practice as much as they would like, the girls take advantage of every opportunity.

“There was a Saturday morning when it started to rain, and the team kept practicing and working hard. We had a couple things we needed to get done,” said Luddy. “They toughed it out. They work hard in the field.”

In order to keep their streak, the team has set goals to stay motivated. One goal they have for the rest of the season is to shut out every team they play. They also are reaching to win the State Championship.

Softball’s next game is this Friday at 4:00 p.m. away against last season’s NVL competitor, Naugatuck High School.
