Athlete Spotlight: Tyler Decrescenzo

Stellar shortstop, Tyler Decrescenzo has been having an outstanding season. With three years under his belt at the varsity level and getting innings on the field as a freshman and securing his spot sophomore year, Decrescenzo has helped Woodland make a strong run into states.

Tyler got into baseball at a very young age. At just 5 years old, he always had a bat in his hands and all he ever wanted to do was swing it around. Not only did he start playing early, but he was also watching baseball on TV. These two things shaped him to who he is today as a player.

Baseball has changed his life on and off the field.

“It’s changed my life off the field. This sport has given me so many opportunities and friendships. The memories that I have made all these years have been unforgettable,” Decrescenzo said.

His favorite part about this game is being able to just go out and compete. Tyler is a determined athlete with a lot of heart who hates to lose so he’s willing to do anything to help his team win the state championship.

The ceiling is sky high for Tyler in the future. He plans on playing college baseball but he’s just waiting for the right opportunity. As a junior, he has one more year to showcase his talent and possibly lead his team to another NVL Championship in the following year.

“I have interest from schools but I have not yet received any offers to play. I plan on finding that landing spot in the coming year but until then, all I can do is work even harder.”
