Woodland’s Favorite 2000s TV Shows

Movies, music, and styles are all so special to the early 2000s era. But something that makes this era so special is the TV shows that we binge. Woodland students have many different favorite 2000s shows that consist of many different things. From shows about vampires, to doctors, to teen drama, they are all. So get your pajamas on, get your remote, and get ready to binge.

One – Gilmore Girls: 

Gilmore Girls is Woodland’s top favorite early 2000s show and there is no doubt why that is. It’s full of coffee, small town charm, drama, comedy, motherhood, and heartwarming moments. The series is seven seasons long and first aired in 2000 all the way to 2007. The plot revolves around a single mother and her daughter trying to navigate through relationships, friendships and family drama. The journey of the Gilmore Girls is a series definitely worth watching and students will tell you exactly that. Sophomore, Rebekkah Lawton says, “Gilmore Girls will make you laugh and even cry at times. The show makes you feel connected with all the characters. It is definitely one of my top favorite early 2000s shows.”

Two – Friends: 

Friends is an iconic 2000s sitcom that fans, especially Woodland students, have a strong passion for and a show that makes fans feel connected to the characters. Friends is full of comedy, coffee, friendship, New York, and love. The series has ten seasons and although it didn’t first air in the 2000s it did run through some of the early 2000s (1994-2004). The plot revolves around a group of six friends that all live in New York City to get through relationships, friendships and careers. “Friends is the best 2000’s show because it teaches you life value and how much your friends can be there for you in a span of ten years. It’s really important for high schoolers to know that as students are transitioning out of high school. Overall it’s just a great show in general,” says Friends lover, Maddy Harte. 

Three – Gossip Girl:

Like in the name,Gossip Girl is always revolving around gossip which is one of the key factors to pulling in the fans to keep binging. Gossip Girl is full of drama, secrets, romance, betrayal,the Upper East Side, and blogs. The series is six seasons long and first aired in 2007 all the way to 2012. The plot revolves around privileged teenagers in the Upper east Side of New York City that involves tons of drama. A secret blogger known as “Gossip Girl” shares secrets of the wealthy teens throughout their high school career and even some of their college career. “Gossip Girl is my favorite 2000s show because the plot is always changing, it’s so interesting, and you never know what is going to happen next,” says Gossip Girl fan, Ava Muharem. 

Four – One Tree Hill:

In a small town, Tree Hill, located in North Carolina, drama is always stirring up. One Tree Hill is full of basketball, drama, romance and teamwork. The series is nine seasons long and first aired in 2003 all the way to 2012. The plot revolves around two half brothers who share a rivalry in basketball and compete to be better than the other. “One Tree Hill is one of my favorite shows, I love the character development,” says sophomore Avery DiGiovanna. “I watched it every week when I was in high school and now that it’s available to watch all seasons I remember how much I loved it and their crazy lives,” says spanish teacher, Ms.Santos. 

Five – The Vampire Diaries:

Vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids, doppelgangers, and even more. The Vampire Diaries is the perfect supernatural show that’s always in for a surprise and a plot twist every episode. The series is eight seasons long and first aired in 2009 but ran through 2017. Although this show is not too early in the 2000’s it’s still one of Woodlands favorite shows. The plot revolves around a young girl, Elena, that’s world is just about to get crazier, with supernatural creatures crawling around her small town. It comes with mystery, a love triangle, and even more drama. “The Vampire Diaries always has a plot twist right around the corner and you never know what’s going to happen next which makes the show so interesting,” said junior, Kaitlyn Sheehan.

Six – Greys Anatomy: 

Every day is a day to save a life in the hit TV show Greys Anatomy. Grey’s Anatomy is a show full of doctors, nurses, interns, surgeons, drama, romance, etc. The series is nineteen seasons long and first aired in 2005 and is still running to this day (2024). Although rumors have spread across social media  that the series is sadly coming to an end soon. The plot revolves around a hospital located in Seattle called Seattle Grace Hospital where medical professionals’ lives revolve in a hospital where romance, and drama is always starting up. “Grey’s Anatomy is one of my favorite shows because it really teaches you about the medical field and inspires a lot of people like me to go into the medical field,” says Rebekkah Lawton. 

2000’s shows are some of the best shows that have been in the history of TV. Woodland is always here for a good 2000’s show and is always ready to get out their remote and start binging. What’s your favorite 2000’s show?
