Where to Find the Prom Boutique Experience

As the new year rolls around, senior girls have already started their mission to find the perfect prom dress… or at least I have. There are dozens of places around Connecticut that hold gorgeous gowns, but some stand out from the rest.

For starters, Dynamite Designs in Wallingford has numerous styles and a large range of sizes. The store holds designers from Sherri Hill to Jovani. Although these brands do end up on the pricey side, the boutique also has dresses from private companies with less of a hefty price tag. Whether you’re looking for a slim fit or a big ball gown, it’s all there.

The shop is organized in a way where prom dresses are on the right side of the door when you walk in (smaller sizes against the front wall and larger sizes toward the middle), homecoming and other occasion dresses toward the left, and dressing rooms in the back.

This company is by appointment only so each client has their own stylist who can help pull dresses based on wants and needs. Appointments typically run about an hour in length, but this can be flexible.

If appointments are simply not for you, I would recommend Mariella Creations in Rocky Hill. There are stylists that will help pull any styles and lace up dresses even though no formal call or email will be needed before entering the store. Although this is a bridal shop, there is a wall with prom dresses that do not disappoint. This shop holds some of the same brands as Dynamite Designs, like Jovani, but it also holds Collette, Color Dress, Favani and so much more.

These dresses are only on shelves in one size, but Mariella Creations can order any other size and color, given that the dress company makes that style. This boutique does have its own seamstress for measurements to make sure the client has a perfectly fitted dress and are well prepared to fix any alterations needed.
As one of the largest prom stores in Connecticut, Atiana Boutique is a popular one to go to and never seems to fail. With over thirty brands to choose from and fifteen style options based on aesthetics, Atiana holds a dress for someone to strut into a venue with. There is no appointment necessary for any prom shopping, but the option is always open. Almost every junior and senior at least needs to take a peek at what the store has to offer.

Although festivities are a few months away, finding the perfect dress may take longer than expected, so do not wait too long to explore options at any of these boutiques.
