Every year, Prospect Mayor, Robert Chatfield, hosts a day for students to decorate pumpkins at their elementary school. These pumpkins can be decorated any way a child wants, as long as it’s school appropriate. That weekend, the pumpkins are brought to the Prospect green to be presented at the Prospect Pumpkin Festival. Each grade has a winner, one through three, that is decided upon by town officials. This day is also reserved for the annual Cardinal Run, used to promote healthy habits in their students. Prospect businesses are asked to sponsor the event, so music and special treats can be available for the children on Prospect Elementary School’s day of fun. This year the events took place on October 12, 2023.
