Ava Muharem, President of Best Buddies, historian of DECA, and senior at Woodland Regional, worked hard to get where she is today, a captain of the Woodland Girls Swim Team. She continuously helps her team to success.  

Following in her older sister’s footsteps, Muharem took on backstroke and freestyle. Muharem enjoys swimming the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle races the most, her best time in backstroke being 1.09. Showing compassion and determination for her team, Muharem is enthusiastic to see where this season takes her and her team. 

¨I’m really excited for the season because we have a lot of really great talent on our team,¨ said Muharem.  ¨The girls are so sweet so every practice is really enjoyable.¨ 

In addition to practices and meets, Muharem is looking forward to Naugatuck Valley League Championships and States. Muharem´s intent is to win NVLS for the 4th year in a row, and place in the top three for States, Muharem’s hope is that everyone tries their hardest during practices and meets to help bring this team goal to life. 

¨Ï just want everyone to do their best which I know that their going to,¨ said Muharem.

Muharems plan is not to pursue swimming in college. She wishes to major in nursing and focus on her school work.
