Artist Spotlight: Carter Davis

Being a part of the National Honor Society, Fine Arts Honor Society and Math Honor Society as well as tennis and a part-time job, you would think Carter Davis, a photographer and senior at Woodland Regional High School, wouldn’t have time to build his own passions. However, Davis has a great affection for photography.

He started photography here at Woodland when he was put into Photo I. At first, he saw this as simply a class to pass but it was transformed into a joy he engages in daily. After finding his love for photography, Davis has taken Photo I, Photo II, Advanced Photo and is now in AP Studio Art with a focus on photography.

“It’s a unique way of portraying art because you use your eyes as the art instead of traditional drawing and painting. Photography is what you see in the world,” Davis said, “I take a lot of photos of the sky and nature because I see it as an art form.”

Davis has both an Instagram, @davy_takes_pics, and Google Site where he shares his photography that anyone can access.

Davis started photography because of a random course choice, but he stuck with it. In the future, Davis plans on focusing on graphic design because photography is not a job to him but an outlet.

“Photography is like my expression. I do not think I would ever try to do it as a job because it is my form of art.”
