Girls Tennis Starts The Season

Starting freshly on April 1st, the girl tennis team was back and ready to play.

The tennis team is coached by Jessica DeGennero, who is also a Spanish teacher here at Woodland. The team is full of 16 girls ranging from all four grades led by captains Rylie Montini and Audrey Fencil.

“I enjoy the people on the team and creating new friendships,” said Montini. “I also enjoy being able to teach the younger girls on the team new skills.”

The team got ready for the season by having conditioning during the winter, and now practice everyday. They match about two to three times a week.

Every season there are 16 regular matches before NVLS and states, and the last one just happened May 12th.

The team record is 13-3, and this year was the first time the team beat Holy Cross after not being able to in many years.

Montini has been on the team for three years and made many memories, and accomplished so much.

“I feel very accomplished with this being my last year on the team, but am also going to be very sad to leave the people and the bonds that we have created. “
