Ianniruberto Swinging his Way Through Life

Aden Ianniruberto, senior at Woodland, has been pursuing his golfing career for over the past eight years. He has been a key player on the school team for three years now, earning medals several times during his matches.

Ianniruberto’s favorite memory after playing for Woodland’s golf team for three years was the annual Stigberg Tournament. At this tournament, all teams in the NVL would come together around the mid-season at Farmbury Hills Golf Course to play 18 holes and have fun.

“I love to just get out there on the course and have fun playing a round of golf,” Ianniruberto said. “I don’t care if I win or lose, at the end of the day, I got to play a round of golf. A win or loss is short lived while golf is a hobby that I will carry on for the rest of my life.”

Ianniruberto is also proud of when he shot his career low of 83 while practicing 18 holes at Oxford Greens.

While being a leader on and off the golf course, he was nominated co-captain his junior year and captain his senior year. As a captain this year, he stepped up and coached the team throughout the first two weeks of the season, when Coach Carangelo was stuck in Florida. While at the award ceremony on the morning of May 24th, Ianniruberto earned the leadership award in athletics. This is quite an impressive award since it is only given out to one male and female athlete who exemplify great leadership in their sports.

This leadership that he showed while being captain of the golf team allowed him to develop as a leader and connect with the rest of the team. While developing a good relationship with all of his teammates, he picked them up when they were feeling down. When Aden’s teammates needed help, he was there to supply the support they needed to succeed.

Golf has not only allowed Aden to develop a strong relationship with his teammates, but it also allowed him to build connections with those around him, even landing him his current job at the Country Club of Waterbury.

“I never realized how many connections you could build on the course,” said Ianniruberto. “Professional organizations actually schedule outings to network new partnerships and business opportunities.”

A connection that Ianniruberto gained was his senior internship at Ion Bank, after he caddied for the CEO. Ianniruberto is grateful for the sport, as it has helped him grow as an individual, and meet a bunch of extraordinary people.
