Internship Spotlight: Aiden Ianniruberto

Aden Ianniruberto, Woodland senior, has had an eventful internship and big plans for the future. In hopes to meet his goals, he was dependent on the process of his internship at Ion Bank, which was set up by his advisor, who has connections to the CEO.

“It dates back all the way to October, “ said Ianniruberto. “Talking back and forth through countless emails, the internship didn’t actually start till mid January.”

Twenty-five hours in, Ianniruberto did all the small accounting work that was given to him. His main focus was to create new vendors in their financial setup. Working with multiple documents, Ianniruberto filled out paperwork in order to create checking and savings accounts for clients.

Ianniruberto feels as though this internship has given him experience in the accounting field. Although it has been a possible option for a career, this internship showed Ianniruberto that accounting is not the path he wishes to take.

This job also includes communication skills. Ianniruberto explains how working at his internship was ‘the most practical thing’ he’s done this year. With the help of this welcoming environment, Ianniruberto was able to ask countless questions to his helpful colleagues.

Unfortunately, Ianniruberto discovered he does not like accounting; his internship helped him realize that having a path with insurance would be a better fit for him. Working for Ion Bank has taught Ianniruberto he does not wish to major in banking. Ianniruberto hopes his college career will lead him out of state, but eventually he’d like to come back home and live in Hartford. In Hartford he’d be able to work for the Insurance Capital of the world.

Ianniruberto’s willingness to learn and driven personality will certainly lead him to success in any career path he chooses.
