Swinging Strong

Woodland’s baseball team is off to a strong start this season with 11 wins. Unfortunately, they suffered their first loss of the season at their ninth game against Seymour.

This year, Woodland’s baseball team has three new captains, senior Darren Gasparri, junior Micheal Belcher, and junior Ethan Stepputis. All these captains share a common goal, to win. Already it looks like their working hard to achieve this goal

“It feels good to have another shot at being a captain,” says Gasparri.

Gasparri has been nothing short of a star athlete this year, being captain of the football team, boys basketball team, and now the baseball team. He hopes to win NVL’s and go to states to end his senior year on a good note.

Stepputtis is excited to take on his new captain role at Woodland and help lead his team to victory.

“As a junior, I didn’t really expect it but I’m excited for the opportunity,” says Stepputis.

Belcher has always been described as an athlete and a leader and now as captain he has the chance to prove it.

“Even if I wasn’t captain, I would still have to lead,” says Belcher.

As a group of three captains, they have to all work together to achieve their common goal. They have to set an example to show leadership and teamwork, as well as inspire the other players.

The captains have the same positive attitude on and off the field, which is why they make such good captains. The baseball team has been off to a great start this season under their leadership and hopefully their success continues.
