Internship Spotlight: Mia Sansone

Senior Mia Sansone is not only a reporter for the school, she also reported for the Republican American Newspaper. In this internship, Sansone’s responsibilities range from attending various planning and zoning meetings to completing articles that cover local news events.

“In Prospect they’re trying to deal with the gun range,” said Sansone. “So I wrote two articles about that.”

During Sansone’s internship she was able to live the life of an actual reporter. Other than feeling a little scared to pitch new ideas, Sansone described it as just like the journalism program at Woodland. Sansone would primarily write articles and occasionally would get sent out to take pictures of things such as accidents.

“I like [Journalism], but it’s not what I want to do for the rest of my life,” said Sansone “I think [it] is really good that I got this internship done because if I wanted to go to college next year, and then I got into the field, and I was like, oh I don’t like it, I’m kind of stuck,”

Many students know Sansone as a great journalist, but many would be surprised to find out that she does not want to pursue it as a career. This internship helped her discover the career path that she wants to pursue – a communications career resulting from Quinnepeac university.
