For Jared Moore, fixing things is more than a chore, it is his career.
Moore always enjoyed fixing little things around the house and he had a lot of experience with tools. But he knew it was time to take a step further. Going from being a businessman who was always in a chair all day to being up and working on your feet all day was a big change. During COVID-19 Moore wasn’t working and he needed something to do with his spare time to make money. He noticed that there had been a house across the street that was for sale, but it was not selling.
“I saw that there was potential to make renovations to it and make some money,” said Moore. “I bought the house with the intention of selling it, and eventually made some good money off of it.”
Moore decided to flip some more houses to see if this could lead to a career. In early 2021, the market went up with the flippable houses so there was not enough money to be made anymore. When he was flipping houses some of his friends had stopped by and asked if he could do smaller projects around their house. He later started working on those smaller projects and found himself enjoying it more than flipping houses. Moore decided this was going to be his new career so he made a business out of it.
“I like that I get to work for myself and be somewhat creative with what people are passionate about, which is their houses,” said Moore.
Moore needed a name for his business so he had asked his family for some ideas. He wanted something creative and unique that stuck out to others. His son, Evan Moore, suggested the name “MooreThanChores Handyman Service”. He loved the name because it made sense for his business and it rhymed.
Moore can do pretty much any handyman service from kitchens, bathrooms, decks, putting up walls, taking down walls, flooring, etc. His most popular service is building decks, which have been a huge success in 2022. Moore can get his services done from a day or up to around a week depending on what the service is.
Moore said, “I plan to continue my business for a long time and make people’s homes into a reality. As long as people are happy with my work, I enjoy doing it.”
