Ethan Valentino and Yasmeen Galal: Student Body President and Vice President

Ethan Valentino and Yasmeen Galal, President and Vice President of the student body, are more than qualified for their own respective positions in their third year in Student Government.

Valentino and Galal have large aspirations for Woodland including fundraisers and many other activities that will be run over the course of the school year. They help to organize homecoming, spirit week, a childhood cancer awareness raffle, March Madness which is a personal favorite for Valentino and Galal, and many other appreciation days in place for the staff and faculty within the building.

One new event that Valentino, Galal, and the Student Government have planned for this year is giving gift baskets in thanks to all of the special education teachers and helpers throughout the school.

“I don’t think they get enough attention for all of the things that they do for this school,” stated Valentino.

Other events like these have been and will be held for the rest of the staff and faculty throughout the year such as appreciation for the teachers, custodians, security guards, and the bus drivers for the school. Typically, there are gift baskets or meals that are prepared for these members of the school.

Another one of the highly anticipated events for this school year is the March Madness basketball tournament which runs from March 14th through April 3rd. During this time, the students and administration will be encouraged to watch the national tournament and compete with brackets devised to map out the champion of the tournament. This new and exciting idea is expected to be a big hit.

Between their aspirations and goals, Valentino and Galal have all of the pieces they need to ensure that the students and staff of WRHS can have a fun and engaging year.
