Athlete Spotlight: Preston and Sara Alessio

Sara and Preston Alessio, two of the most important members of the girls and boys soccer teams at Woodland, have done much to help out their teams this season. Sara, senior, and Preston, sophomore, have both been playing soccer since they were three years old.

Sara participates in girls soccer, indoor and outdoor track. Preston plays on the boys soccer team. The two athletes have both earned a lot in their sports careers at Woodland.

“My sophomore year, I got all Division and all NVL for track,” Sara said. These achievements are very impressive especially at a young age of a sophomore.

“My biggest achievement was being named to the all state team as a freshmen and getting top goal scorer for my club team every year,” Preston said.

Sara and Preston accomplish a lot in sports and motivate each other.

“Sara motivates me a lot. She is my older sibling, which is really inspiring. She makes me want to work harder and push myself to be the best I can be,” added Preston.

Both of the athletes earned the title of all NVL during the fall soccer season this year, their parents also motivate them as well.

“They have inspired us because they want to see us succeed and push ourselves to be the best we can; They want to show us what it is like to feel good on and off the field. This motivates me to continue being determined on and off the field, and work hard no matter where I am,” mentioned Sara.

Both of the athletes work to inspire each other to work hard during there athletic and academic careers.
