Hawks Fall to Seymour on Girl’s Basketball Senior Night

Casey Mulligan was scorching hot down the stretch on Wednesday, but the Hawks fell to arch-rival 61-58 on Senior Night. Mulligan capped off a 23 point performance with two and one layups that gave the Hawks a one-point lead with less than three minutes to go.

“I was hyped up when those shots fell in; having people in the stands cheer when it happened made the moment even better,” Mulligan said.

Down 50-39 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Hawks played great 4th quarter Basketball. Coming out hot, the Hawks forced a couple of Seymour turnovers, and a long three-pointer by Andra Bojka cut the lead to 8. A couple of Kylie Bulinski and Ava Delucia layups narrowed down the lead even further. That lead Mulligan gave the Hawks would be short-lived as a late Seymour three, and extra free throws put the Wildcats up by three and took a lead the Hawks would never come back from.

On her senior night, Ava Delucia racked up 10 points and was one of two Seniors honored in the pregame ceremony, along with Sammie Benanto, who scored 2 points.

“I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done on and off the court for us,” Mulligan said.

“It’s been awesome playing with them for the past three years, and I wish them the best in everything they do in their future,” Bulinski expressed.

Bulinski had a strong showing with 12 points, Andra Bojka contributed 7, Riley Kane hit some important free throws and nabbed 3 points.

The Hawks are looking for a bounce-back game as they square off against the Raiders of Torrington on Friday.
