Woodland Football Flies into a New Season

If you’re a Woodland Hawk, then you’ve probably dedicated at least one Friday night to the bleachers, sideline cheers, and that exhausting 4 minute walk from the parking lot up the hill to the football field.

Supporting the football team might not be a tradition for everyone, but, when you go to a game, you know what you’re going to see. Spots for the band, the parent and the student sections in the bleachers, young kids showing up with their own footballs to practice on the grass while they admire the boys on the field, and the owdy viewers leaning over the fence, trying to participate in the game.

However, there is something very different this year. Spectators should expect to see the whole team taking the varsity field.

Senior Captain Quincy Koch explains that all boys, regardless of their grade, will be able to call themselves Woodland Varsity Football players.

“With our low numbers every player need to be prepared to go on the field at anytime,” adds Koch.

This is the first time the whole team has the potential to play on the field at every varsity game, but the boys are treating it no differently than any other years. They practice together and train together.

Koch says that they prepare for every game together in advance. “We’ve been watching a lot of film on our opponent to help prepare us for their different schemes.” Koch believes the whole team is prepared to fight hard.
