Outside the sun is shining, the snow is melting, the birds are chirping, but the students of Region 16 are still not back in school. However, schools officials are hopeful that students will be sent back to school on Thursday, February 15, 2013.
“I am waiting to hear back from officials from Beacon falls concerning the current road conditions,” said Tim James, superintendent of schools, “and as soon as I know, I will inform parents and staff as to whether there will be school tomorrow.”
With the last day of school already being so late into the school year, the Board is looking for ways to alleviate this late ending and it is possible that students may make up a lost day this Friday, February 15th, 2013. Friday the 15th was originally planed to be one of the days of the shortened February Break for Region 16. According to James, there would have to be a sufficient amount of staff present to make it a meaningful educational day for students.
“A message has been sent to staff a short time ago to determine their availability on Friday,” added James, “and once we have the responses, the information will be shared with the Board Chair for further discussion.”
Enough staff will have to agree to attend school on Friday in order for school to be in session. As more decisions are made and more information is found, WRHSmedia will keep you updated.

I don’t think it’s worth it I say we just make up the extra day at the end of the year so we have a full day of students WILLING to learn if you guys open it one day out of the rest of the week being closed students will be angry and won’t take the day seriously thus leading onto a day not worth opening on
it’s not worth it. I can honestly say ill be too distracted and tired to even entertain the idea of learning Friday or Thursday. just leave it alone and cancel school for the week and start new next week or you’ll end up with a lot of angry unwilling students
