American idol season eleven

American Idol season eleven

By Jessica Crosby

Over one million people auditioned for the eleventh season of American Idol. The contestants that made it to Hollywood had to go through even more singing challenges to make it to the final Idol stage. They have to sing by themselves and collaborate with the other contestants and do a group performance in front of the judges. Jenifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson aka the Idol judges have to narrow it down and choose the 24 people that stuck out the most.

After 3 weeks of singing in front of the judges they finally made their decision for Hollywood week. Twelve girls and twelve boys were put through to the top twenty-four.

The contestants this year are a variety of different people. The ages vary from 15 years old to 28 years old.

The girls consist of Baylie Brown, Brielle Von Hugel, Chelsea Sorrell, Haley Johnsen, Hallie Day, Jennifer Hirsh, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez, Shannon Magrane, and Skylar Laine. The boys consist of Colton Dixon, DeAndre Brackensick, Heejun Han, Jeremy Rosado, Jermaine Jones, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips,   Aaron Marcellus, Adam Brock, Chase Likens, Creighton Fraker, Eben Franckewitz, and Reed Grimm.

The contestants that were chosen to be in the top 24 have to perform in front of the judges on the idol stage in L.A. The boys perform one day and the girls perform the next.

After the performers sing the public then votes for who they want in their top 13. Elimination night comes right after the night they perform. Ryan Seacrest then announces the ten people that made the top 13. Then the remaining contestants sing “for their lives” on the show. After that the three judges individually pick who they want in the top 13. Since there are 3 judges that adds up to 13.

When the show gets into the top 13 the contestants must sing and impress the public. America must vote and the one person that gets the lowest number of votes will be sent home.

We are hopefully looking at another great season for American Idol, and to find a super star for the music industry.
