Junior Honor Society Cleans Up Prospect

On Saturday, April 10th, members of the Long River School National Junior Honor Society participated in a town clean-up in Prospect. Organized by Mayor Robert Chatfield and NJHS advisor Mrs. Sandra Pantaleo, 24 members cleaned up along the streets of Salem, Spring and Straitsville in Prospect.  Members were monitored and supervised by town employees and parent chaperones, Mrs. Tully, Mr. Starkey and Mrs. Ecke.

After collecting a truckload full of trash and several large items such as tires, a basketball hoop and even an old sink, the students enjoyed pizza and soda at Chapel Hall in Prospect and Mayor Robert Chatfield awarded prizes to students based on their finds.

Alexa Kiernan and Kaitlin Gutmann won the award for the most trash collected.  Students with the most unusual find were Jacqueline Magner and Emma Gawronski.  Allison Noble and Katie Porter won the most unique find award.  These hardworking, enthusiastic students did a tremendous job cleaning up their community.
