Internship Spotlight: Timmy O’Connor

All over the world, students participate in internships to gain experience, and see if this is what they would like to do in the future. Sometimes internships are very eye opening and can show someone they don’t actually want to pursue a career. That’s the case for Timmy O’Connor, senior at Woodland. O’Connor interns at Prospect Elementary School by assisting Ilyce Cronk and helping kids with special needs. He works with the kids everyday and leaves school early on B days to help out for two hours starting at 1 P.M.

O’Connor provides and assists students while helping them through some of their daily tasks. Tasks that he helps out with are things such as helping them complete work and getting their back packs at the end of the day. Each day includes something different.

Previously, O’Connor has worked with some of the kids from when he was a camp counselor, so he has some familiar faces around the building. Cronk saw the work he had done and thought that she could use his help.

O’Connor enjoys his time working with kids with special needs but he does not see this job in his future. He likes to only focus on working with the kids and he puts his full effort into working them.

“I really enjoy working with the kids and it’s something that I look forward to during the day.”
