Woodland’s Reviews on Wednesday

Most students can’t imagine what it would be like to be sent off to a boarding school. However, for fictional character Wednesday Adams, this isn’t the case.

Outside of socialization, Wednesday enjoys playing the cello and attempting to solve recent murders in the town and their connection to Nevermore.

Having social media as a part of our everyday lives here at Woodland, As Wednesday says, “I find social media to be a soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmation.” That’s the key reason why students love the show so much, it’s the adrenaline rush without the technology, it’s the adventure, and more importantly the suspense leading to the plot twists. Many students continue to talk about this hit Netflix show since it came out on November 23rd, and have turned it into a trending conversation topic in school.

“I thought it was very thrilling. Wednesday seemed very different compared to a real life person and Jenna played the character extremely well, ” said Claire Poynton, a Woodland sophomore. “The show had me in suspense as I continued to watch it. My favorite character has to be Ajax, even though he isn’t one of the main characters, he makes the show funny and his style definitely has an impact as well.”

More students continue to talk about Wednesday’s love interest, whether it be Tyler or Xavier. Most commonly referred to as, “Team Tyler” or “Team Xavier” similar to the Twilight franchise. Each of which pursues different qualities but makes a heavy impact at the end of the show.

“I’m on Team Xavier because Tyler is extremely awkward especially during the ‘Rave’N’ scene. Xavier seems so much more infatuated and truly cares about Wednesday by painting her portrait and protecting her, “ says Julia Dommel, another sophomore. “ Even the way Xavier gets jealous at the dance shows that he cares and wants to be with her. Ultimately, they share the same vibe which Tyler and Wednesday didn’t.”

With an overall review of 97% of viewers liking the show, which has almost 350 million views since the release. For most viewers at Woodland, there was an immediate jump to watch the show as others expressed their reviews.

“ I watched it in the same week it came out,” said Mia Sansone, a senior. “Personally, my favorite character was Thing, the character didn’t have lines but I think Thing carried the show.”

Not only has it been influenced through conversation, TikTok has been creating trends and viral videos based on or about the show. Whether it be creating your hand to appear as Thing or the viral dance from the dance she performs, users and viewers alike can’t get enough of this show.
