Outrageous Lines at the Girl’s Bathroom

The lines in the girls bathroom are becoming a bigger issue everyday. Several girls have complained about waiting in long lines and even having to leave if the line is too long.

When asked about the bathroom lines, senior Grace Tottenham was quick to reply.

“They bother me,” said Tottenham. “I have waited a good seven minutes to use the bathroom sometimes.”

Students are frustrated when they are unable to use the bathroom when they need to.

“Usually, [I] wait five minutes then angrily stomp out,” said Abigail Hannus, Woodland junior.

Not going to the bathroom when needed is seriously damaging to a person’s body. An article in COSMOPOLITAN about bathroom health states, “Speaking to Popular Science, a urological researcher explained how the bladder isn’t dissimilar to a pond. ‘Not draining properly allows bacteria to build up, and that leads to infection.’”

Woodland has three bathrooms, but only one is open at a time. The big question is: why aren’t more bathrooms open?

Theoretically, people should be in and out of the bathroom very quickly. Teachers are assigned to the bathroom to ensure students can get in and out quickly.

The one bathroom policy was put into place when Principal Kurt Ogren arrived at the school ten years ago.

“The teachers assigned [to the bathrooms are] there to make sure that there’s no negative incidents going on in the bathroom and people aren’t there for a very long time,” Ogren said.

Though Ogren has never personally received a complaint regarding bathroom lines, many students and teachers can attest to the inconvenience of the lines.
