Movies to Get You Into the Holiday Spirit

When the snow starts falling, and the weather grows colder, we know that winter is right around the corner, and so is Christmas. That means it’s time to get into the holiday spirit. Nothing spreads the holiday cheer faster than binge watching Christmas movies on a snowy day. If you’re looking for something to watch this holiday season, then this is the list for you.

6. The 1983 film, A Christmas Story, is a Christmas classic and will get you right in the spirit for the holidays. Nine-year-old Ralphie Parker, has only ever dreamed of getting his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle,” and he keeps trying to convince his family, teachers, and Santa to get it for him. Ralphie comes upon bullies along the way and faces the challenge of avoiding a feud between his parents. This movie can be found on HBO Max, Vudu, and Prime Video.

5. The 1964 film, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, is one of the most classic, popular and oldest Christmas movies of all time. The film is known for the famous holiday character, Rudolph. A Young reindeer named Rudolph lives in the North Pole. His father is one of Santa’s reindeer and Rudolph is expected to grow up to be just like him. However his red nose makes his chances difficult and causes him to stick out from the rest of the reindeer. This movie can be found on Amazon Prime Video, and Vudu.

4. The 2004 film, The Polar Express, is a great way to start off the holiday season if you’re looking for an adventure and something exciting. The Polar Express was originally a children’s book but after high demands from readers, it was made into a movie. The Polar Express takes place on Christmas Eve when a young boy is invited aboard onto a magical train that’s on its way to the North Pole. On his way there he is joined by many other children as they embark on the journey ahead of them to go visit Santa Clause. This movie can be found on HBO Max, and Hulu Plus.

3. The Grinch instantly grew in popularity right after it came out in theaters on November 9th, 2018. The Grinch is the most recent of the three previous Grinch movies. In the Dr. Suess adaptation, a grumpy man is on a mission to steal Christmas from the town of Whoville. This movie can be found on Vudu, Prime Video, and Apple TV.

2. The 2003 film, Elf,is a movie that will instantly get you into the christmas spirit and is very popular around the holidays. In this fan favorite movie, an orphan, later named Buddy, was accidentally brought to the North Pole and ended up being raised by Santa and his elves. One day Buddy feels like he doesn’t fit in with the rest of the Elves, so he moves to New York City in search of his real father. This movie can be found on HBO Max, Prime Video, Vudu, and Apple TV.

1. The 1990 film, Home Alone, followed by the 1992 film, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, has always been a holiday favorite. Home Alone can be considered one of the most popular and watched Christmas movies of all time. In the movie Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is forgotten at home while his whole family leaves for a trip to Paris, France. Kevin faces many challenges while trying to navigate being on his own. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York: Kevin McCallister finds himself in trouble again after he loses track of his father at the airport and gets on a plane headed towards New York City while the rest of the McCallisters get on a different plane to Florida.
